Starry Launch: How To Port Forward

πŸ“š ABOUT:

Port forwarding is often used by gamers or people wishing to avoid being double NATted. You can set up port forwarding through the Starry App or via your web browser. We recommend using the Starry App. Port forwarding rules work best when a DHCP Reservation is created.

πŸ“ STEPS:

  1. Start by logging in to the Starry App and clicking Settings in the bottom-right corner.
  2. Under the WiFi section, click on Advanced.
  3. Click on DHCP Reservations.
  4. In the top-right corner, click Create New.
  5. Enter a valid IPv4 IP address. Typically, you can use β€œ192.168.99.1XX” with the XX being any two digit number from 01-99.
  6. Enter the MAC Address of the device you want to port forward. The MAC Address is often either printed on a device or can be found in the devices settings. Add a brief description and Save.
  7. Go back to the Advanced Settings menu.
  8. Click on Port Forwarding.
  9. In the top-right corner, click Create New.
  10. Enter the IPv4 IP address that you used for the DHCP Reservation.
  11. When you are finished, click Continue in the top-right corner.
  12. Tap on the right side of the screen next to External and enter a valid port number. Repeat this process for the Internal port number. Note: Typically, the port numbers are specified by the maker of the game or device. It is a number under 65535. Usually, the maker will also tell you if the TCP and/or UDP Protocols need to be enabled.
  13. Enter a short description and click Save.

For security reasons, Starry blocks inbound traffic from the internet on port 1199.
